I am back in the states!

Hi DEAR supporters!  The team is back in the states and safe and sound on American soil again.  The rest of the team left Kaye and me at the Tampa airport at 1:30 in the morning on July 4th.  We waited around laughing and talking and walking around the airport (well, Kaye was also whining-she was freezing the whole time-we laughed so hard!!).  We didn’t sleep and then got our tickets for our flight into Wisconsin around 5 AM.  We flew into Memphis (and, praise God, I had a chance to share Christ with a young man, Eric, on his way to LA!).  After a layover in Memphis, we headed for Madison.  Ger picked us up at the airport (I get tears in my eyes just thinking how good it was to see my hubby!!).  We then drove straight up to Florence and had dinner with Kaye and her husband, Bob (he grilled country ribs-yummy!).  Kaye and I said our goodbyes with many hugs-we have gotten so close and have shared something together that will bind us together forever!  We had made arrangements to spend the night at our dear friends, Shirley and Ariel Ellis, who summer in Florence which was especially wonderful.  Unfortunately, I am a bit sick and having to be very near a bathroom!!  It could just be adjusting to having this trip behind us now as there was NO WAY any of us could afford to get sick while in Haiti-too much to do!

The biggest thrill, in addition to see my hubby, was having a HOT shower!!  I had forgotten how wonderful that was-I stayed in there extra long cause it was so great to have hot water!  We take so much for granted!

It is now Tuesday morning and we will soon be getting back on the road and these updates will come to an end.  I am still not feeling very well, but am confident that it will not last and I do not have any disease.  I have 4 malaria pills to take yet and truly do not believe this is anything but my reaction to all that has happened.  I did take the few items of clothing I brought home (Kaye and I left everything else in Haiti and we felt so good to do so!) and washed them last night as we were instructed upon return home.

Well, it has been quite a ride and I am so very excited to be back home.  I am so grateful to each of you for your support as it was so wonderful to know that others had partnered with us and were praying for the team and had even put in their cold hard cash to make even stronger our bond together in this adventure.  I know I will be forever changed by my time spent in Haiti.  I will be sending you all a follow-up report of the personal things God has taught me and hammered on me while in Haiti.  Though it was very humbling, I pray I will apply those changes to my life til eternity.  This is the last update on my blog, but please feel free to continue reading as periodically I write something that God has been teaching me!  God bless each of you!  Love, deb
